FAQ
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type, paste or upload is sent to a server or stored anywhere.
How random are the passwords?
They use your browser's cryptographically secure random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues), the same source used for encryption keys.
Password or passphrase — which is better?
Both can be very strong. Passphrases are easier to remember and type; random passwords pack more strength into fewer characters.
Where do the passphrase words come from?
Passphrases use the EFF Short Wordlist by the Electronic Frontier Foundation (CC BY 3.0): 1,296 short, memorable words.
